Kartan’s Journal Day 3

There was some new information in my dream last night. A dark tower casts a shadow across Cauldron, and the man seems to be telling me his name, but I can’t quite make it out, or maybe I can but I just don’t remeber what it is right now. But I think I need to find this tower to discover the location that man has been showing me. We will be heading for the tunnels under the locksmith’s shop shortly. I kind of like those tunnels. I hope my lair can be as grand. Maybe I’ll just make those tunnels as my lair. We’ll have to wait and see.

Session Log: December 19, 2005

Player Characters
Kartan (Mike Greene)
Gray (Jake Sparks)
Zeroketh Olek (Ian Salavon)
Mallock (Sam Cluck)
Mehrdrim (Jeremy Hill)
Brin (Zac Hargis)
Ghost (James Salyers)

Keygan Ghelve’s day started with a bad shock, and only got worse. First, a loud, fast talking bald man barged in on him, looking for the investigators. Before Ghelve could even ask how this odd-looking man knew that there was a connection to Jzadirune from the his shop–and how such a plump person could be believed to have not eaten for a couple weeks after being let go by his employers–or while looking for his missing employers–or something like that–another man arrived.

Monologue

-As the unnatural beast dropped to the floor and the adventurers went about the business of picking up the pieces from the battle, I took an inventory of our crew, my behavior over the last few hours, and what chance we had to find my missing employers. I am reminded of stories from my youth as we continue in this search of horrible kidnappers and ghostly child-killers, and i fear that, much like those stories, this is fast becoming a matter of a much larger scale than i had anticipated. As the crew gathered to mend wounds, i began a proper introduction:

Action Points

Action Points

I’ve come to appreciate the Action Point system incorporated into the Eberron campaign setting, so I’m going to use something similar in my campaigns. Action Points in my campaigns will work much the same as they do in Eberron, but with a few minor adjustments.

Filling Out the Party

Since we might shift to a 1st and 3rd Monday schedule for this campaign (instead of just on the 1st Monday), and because we have P’s yet to create C’s, we need to get the party filled out.

Here’s the current breakdown:
  • Human male hexblade (Ian)
  • Human male dread necromancer (Mike)
  • Half-elf male rogue (Jake)

Something of a “dark” group, so far, but an interesting one.

Jeremy, do you still want to go with an urban ranger?

Liz, you mentioned a mounted combat character. What’s the word on that?

Sam?

My plan is to start new PC’s at the next session as 2nd level (but with only 1000 XP).

We’ll have to work out a procedure for on-again-off-again characters as we move along.

Kartan’s Journal Day 2

We meet at the oprhanage and the headmistress, Gretchyn Tashykk, wasn’t too keen on letting us in, until Zero showed her the potion from St. Cuthbert. Gray did some investigating of the locks and reported that they showed no signs of being forced or picked, and they all came from the same locksmith, Keygan Ghelve.

Kartan’s Journal Day 1

Today I met a man in the Slippery Eel, a Hexblade named Zeroketh. He seems to be a little touched in the head. Always saying random things. I find him a little intriguing.
Played a few rounds of 3 Dragon Ante with him, until an annoying little half elf named Gray kept sneaking up to our table, I believe that he is a theif, and was looking at us as a mark.

Session Log: December 5, 2005

Player Characters
Kartan (Mike Greene)
Gray (Jake Sparks)
Zeroketh Olek (Ian Salavon)

Zeroketh sat alone at a table in the Slippery Eel Tavern. This was hardly unusual. With his eyes jumping back and forth, watching the other patrons but not really seeing them, with his hair done in spikes and dyed more colors than the fingers on one hand, he didn’t usually get much company.

"Let’s Build a Party" or "What Do You Want to Play?"

“Let’s Build a Party” or “What Do You Want to Play?”

So…what do you want to play (speaking to the players, and you know who you are)? Post your thoughts by clicking on the “Comment” link at the end of the post. NOTE: It might take a little while for your first comment to show up, but after that it’ll be instantaneous.

If possible, I’d like to have character creation essentially finished before 7:30 Monday night, so we can get rolling ASAP. One session per month kinda requires that, I think.

So far, Ian has expressed an interested in being an arcane caster or sorcerer. Anyone else?
