The Redeemed Warrior…

Rexan was born from no one in particular and left in a room at the Slippery Eel. He was found and summarily sold to a wealthy land owner who was looking for children to work his land. There he stayed though his childhood. It was a cruel existence. He was up early working the land until his fingers were numb. Then he would bed long after the sun went down. Many other children lived there as well…but most never said anything or didn’t live very long. He learned early on that he had nothing but himself.

Session Log – September 25, 2006

Date: September 25, 2006

Player Characters
Kartan (Mike Greene)
Garnoth (Zac Hargis)
Perj (Ian Salavon)
Google (James Salyers)
Korm (Paul Kirchubel)

After 12 hours of rest in the former priest’s quarters off of the statue room, the party readied to continue their conquest.

Garnoth opened the door to the statue room, Kartan right behind him. The black dragon waiting on the far side of the room breathed a line of acid that hit them both, killing Garnoth (the operative phrase was “puddle of goo”) and dropping Kartan. Perj and Google took stock, and Google used their second scroll of greater teleport to beat a hasty retreat back to Cauldron.

An Available Option

After the session tonight, player discussion showed an interest in bringing in new PC’s.

As we are between modules in The Shackled City this would be a workable time to do that. So…if anyone wants to retire their current PC and bring in a new one…you can, with these parameters:

  • 8th Level (28,000 XP)
  • 27,000 gp starting gold – no more than 1/3 of the total can be spent on a single item
  • Core classes only
  • Core races only

Since we want to continue The Shackled City, it’s best if you create a PC that is local to the area. Also, I’ll try to make sure all new PC’s have local NPC contacts. It might be possible for the retired PC’s to act as “contact NPC’s” for the new PC’s, though that might not be feasible in all cases.

Just wanted to offer the option to those who might want to take advantage of it. After all, tonight marks the 20th session of the campaign and this is a convenient point to do it.

Consider This…

Perj was just a thinkin’, an’ mind you it ain’t somethin’ Perj do alot of, But there’s one possibility we ain’t said yet: What if the Splintershield don’ wanna be took back? What if he’s in with them fish? Perj has seen stranger stuff ‘fore than that. Perj is old fashioned, an he don’ wanna think a dwarf could turn stone over to them fish, but may so it is. It’s somethin’ ta think on anyways…

Perj accepts his entrance to the Crimson Hand, and by The Forger himself Perj aims ta clean this place for alla you and my family what was retched by a foul Underdweller!!!

As they headed back to Cauldron, the party hashed and re-hashed battle plans for getting past the kua-toans and their she-devil. Google met up with them in Cauldron, and the planning continued.

Conversations

Agreeing to wait to be a part of the Brotherhood, Perj and Therrin went to gather supplies for the journey below the surface.

“Think’s we’s findin’ somethin’ downthere, Perj?” Therrin asked with a note of sarcasm in his voice. This was nothing new to Perj. He must have heard Therrin pop off to every dwarf in the unit. More often than not it got him punched in the face. Perj was used to it.
“It may be so, but Therrin needs to cool ‘is fire. This ain’t no treasure mission. Kin was here with these Men. Does Therrin have the knowin’ of what that means?”, Perj said matter of factly and Therrin shut up. “Perj is here to help these Men. And isf you wasn’t actin’ like agoat you was hearin’ a dwarf we be tryin’ to rescue. Zeneith Splintershield, you heard the name?”, Perj asked in a way when you want to make an impression on someone. Therrin’s eyes got big like ponds.
“Aye. I done heard the name. But cavortin’ with a kobold…what would kin say ’bout that? Whither we go down into the dark, alone, with them’s that ain’t shared our blood? I ain’t got trust fer none of ‘um. Special not that dark one. He be havin’ the stink o’carrion on ‘im strong as Abathor. And I think you is gonna find a sword in your rockish head soon as the sun drop ‘low the Mount.”, Therrin was almost hostile. Perj cracked a little smile.
“That’s why Perj brought Therrin along. Therrin is gonna watch Perj’s back.”
