Joining back up with Viper in Oakhurst, the party went back to the Sunless Citadel...for a rather short visit.

Lothar finally succeeded in opening a locked door that had thwarted him last time. In the room the door opened into was an old, rusted water tank, with pipes leading into the floor.

Lothar pried open the bung on the top of the tank and released a small water mephit that promptly "breathed" on the entire party, causing signficant damage. Lothar went down immediately.

Misjudging the area of effect, Viper cast a sleep spell that didn't effect the water mephit, but did put Drai to sleep. The water mephit attacked Viper next, and put him down. The water mephit sat on Viper and taunted Torlic who was desperately trying to wake up Drai.

Once Drai was standing, the mephit attacked again, knocking Drai once more out of the combat, but not before Drai hit the creature for damage. The mephit continued to taunt Torlic, sitting on the edge of the tank with his back turned. Torlic finally managed to hit the creature for enough damage that it decided to heal itself. So it jumped down into the tank to get in the water that remained. Torlic siezed the oppurtunity and put the bung back in place, locking the mephit back in the tank.

The party pulled itself together sufficiently to stumble back into town and pay for more healing at the gnome's house.

The next day, the 10th of their journey, they went back to the Sunless Citadel.

They went back to the place where they had been ambushed by goblins a couple days before. Lothar fumbled his attempt to disable the bell alarm on the door and so four goblins were waiting for them. Unfortunately for them, Viper's sleep worked on three of them. The fourth managed to escape to the next room and alert the goblins there.

Viper collected the caltrops that had been scattered on the floor (16 lbs of 'em).

In the next room, Torlic used a molotov cocktail made with a pint of lantern oil to attack the goblin position there. Viper's next sleep spell finished off 2 of the 3 goblins, and the last ran off to get re-inforcements, which arrived shortly. Torlic and Drai made short work of 4 of the 7 goblins that came in, and the rest ran off.

Lothar opened a room off of their current position that turned out to have several kobold prisoners, as well as a captive gnome, Erky Timbers. The kobolds ran back to their people, but Erky stayed with the party, and even healed them up by sacrificing some of spells remaining for the day.

The 3 goblins who had run off earlier were found in their barracks and killed without incident.

The next room they entered turned out to contain a small white dragon wyrmling, presumably the kobold's missing dragon. The wyrmling attacked immediately, but failed to breath frost as intended. After several minutes of the dragon flying around and trying to breath frost, the party managed to pummel the dragon into unconsciousness.

The party considered just letting the dragon go, but eventually took it back to the kobolds. The kobolds gave the party the key from their leader's "dragon throne", as well as a magical item (Quaal's feather token (tree)).

Upon returning to Oakhurst, all members of the party went up to 2nd level. [an error occurred while processing this directive]
