With the party regrouped on the balcony of the lighthouse, Alamar gave Sam improved invisibility to help him scout the next level down. The only way down from the balcony was a trapdoor. Though they had heard yells from the lower floor minutes before, when Sam scouted out the 2nd floor of the of the lighthouse, he found no one there. So the rest of the party came down.
On the 1st floor of the lighthouse, the party was attacked by huge water elemental. Mills blade barriers hurt the creature, but didn't stop it. Thartok took a pounding before the water elemental was defeated.
Black Molly and her ogres attacked from the opposite direction just as the water elemental was destroyed. Black Molly's evil eye failed to impress the party, and she was beaten back and most of her ogres were quickly killed. She managed to summon another huge water elemental before she was slain. One ogre managed to flee the battle in the confusion caused by the water elemental.
After the second water elemental was slain, Sam scouted while Mills patched up Thartok and Alamar. Sam found the ogre who had fled standing over a group of bound-and-gagged humans. Sneaking behind the ogre, Sam backstabbed the ogre, killing him instantly. Then he untied the prisoners.
The prisoners were the lighthouse crew. They told the party they had been kidnapped nearly a tenday before. They had only been dragged down here to the kitchen when the ogres on the balcony were attacked.
Finding no more ogres in the lighthouse, the party came up with a plan to take over the ship, as well.
Using magical disguises cast by Alamar, the party rowed out to the boat. When they came up alongside, Sam used his slippers of spider climbing to climb along the side of the boat and come up on the opposite side. The party was recognized as imposters as soon as they boarded, and the ogres still on board attacked them.
The battle was short, and the last of the ogres had been dumped overboard within a few minutes.
The next morning, the party returned to Bordlund and collected their reward. They hadn't decided what to do with the ship, yet.
Everyone received 4400 XP. No one went up a level. [an error occurred while processing this directive]
