  • The Journal Newsletter – April 2014
    Happy Easter/Passover/Egg Hunting! A new update of The Journal 6 was released on 31 March. You can see the details of what's new and fixed in "The Journal News" section, below. NOTE: The primary purpose of this update was to make The Journal 6 display better on newer, high density displays (like on the Surface Pro). If you have The Journal 6 Build #739 (from February), and you're happy, there's no *need* to upgrade. Just an FYI. =) We have our usual new writing prompts and a new tip about numbered lists.
  • The Journal Newsletter – March 2014
    Happy St. Patrick's Day! A new update of The Journal 6 was released last month. You can see the details of what's new and fixed in "The Journal News" section, below. FYI: This update looks a bit different. There are (finally) new toolbar/menu and entry tree icons for TJ6. (You can use User Preferences, Global tab, under Skinning sub-tab to revert back to the TJ5 menu/toolbar icons.) Also, I had to squeeze and rearrange User Preferences and Category Properties forms some to support the larger UI settings. We have our usual new writing prompts and a new tip: Typing Wiki-Like Links in The Journal

    Welcome to the Autumn of 2013! This is my favorite time of year: colorful leaves blowing in the wind, cool days under warm sunshine--when it's not cold rain under gray clouds--and I like that too. =) The latest update of The Journal 6 streamlines (and fixes) the topic feature, making topics much easier to use. There are also some other neat additions (and fixes). See "The Journal News" below for all the details. This month's tip introduces the new, simpler way to wrap text around pictures in your entries, and, as always, we have a couple new writing prompts.

    It's Back to School time here in the United States! For The Journal, though, there are *always* discounts for students and teachers (and lots of other people): Discounts Available A new update of The Journal 6 is now available. Check out "The Journal News" below for all the details, but the summary is: The Journal now has doodles! Yes, you heard right. You can now doodle in your entries--and even doodle on any image or photograph! In honor of the new update, this month's tip tells you how to doodle in your entries. Plus, we have a couple new writing prompts.

    Summer 2013 is here! Except where Winter 2013 has now begun. Either way, I hope you get to fully enjoy the season. =) There is a new update of The Journal 6 available. Along with a handful of bugfixes and minor improvements, this update includes a translation of the menus and user interface to Armenian. See "The Journal New" below for more information. This month tip tells you how to get a total word count for a batch of entries, and we have two new writing prompts.

    That whooshing sound you hear is April flying past... =) A new update of The Journal 6 was released earlier this month. This one has a few new features as well as bugfixes. Check out "The Journal News" below for more information. This month tip tells you how to use one of those new features to create what I call "The Journal Large Print Edition", and we have a couple new writing exercises.

    Spring is here! I'm always a big fan of spring. I no longer have to sneeze from dry winter air or a lingering cold. Now I can sneeze for entirely different, very colorful reasons. Gesundheit! =) A new update of The Journal 6 is in the works and will be released next month (April). One of the new features will be automatic rotation of JPEG images when you insert them. This month's Tip explains how The Journal organizes entries in calendar categories, and we have a couple new writing prompts.

    Some years February seems to get here faster than others. And now Valentines Day has come and gone, as well. I don't know about you, but my 2013 seems to be gaining speed. =) The Journal 6 Build #667 was released earlier this month. The main new feature is a Spanish translation of the menus and user interface. See "The Journal News" below for all the details. This month's tip tells you how to use The Journal with the cloud!
